Croatia and Slovenia – day 7

Today I woke up in the car where I had to sleep because of the lightning and I just sat in the car on my iPad waiting for mum and Dad to fully pack the car, in the rain.

Mum went to the bakery to get fresh chocolate croissants for breakfast. Then we drove to a new campsite in the rain – goodbye Lake Bled!

Mum showed me the route we have taken to get here in the map and it would take 14 days to walk here from home (if you had no sleep)!

And it turns out we have a room in Hotel Belvedere in Izola! Mum didn’t want to sleep in the car again.

We got in the hotel room and the Wi-Fi IS SO BAD THAT I COULD DIE!!!! I had to sit in the bathroom for the best Wi-Fi, I also have a wobbly tooth.

We went to a restaurant for lunch near the sea at a seafood grill place! We then walked around the sea front which was pretty and I got a new umbrella and some sliders.

It started raining again + thunder AND lightning!!

We found out that there has been a National state of emergency declared in Slovenia now – rivers have burst; bridges and roads have collapsed and people have even died! Very close to our last campsite, there are now many floods!

We went in a cafe where mum and Dad had a macchiato coffee. When it calmed down we speed walked down to the car and drove back to the hotel. We chilled for a bit until we went to the hotel restaurant to get a cold cuts and cheeseboard. Mum said Uncle Cliff would really like it here because they have a long whisky menu.

After that we walked back to the hotel to go to bed after some relax time. Stay tuned!!

I’m Alice. I started writing about my holidays when I was 6. I’m 11 now. I love art, photography and travelling. So far, I have been to many parts of Italy (by plane and car) many Greek Islands, Morocco and Thailand. Last summer, we drove to Slovenia and Croatia and camped. Next year I hope to visit Japan and go skiing.

  1. The best bit about this day sounds the whisky menu!! I’m cooking dinner tonight and I’ve just been sorting out the cocktails. The one I’m making is called Rhett Butler. Then I’m doing crab. Then boeuf bourguignon. Do you know what all that is Alice?
The floods look really horrific; a whole month of rain in just one day. I’m glad you’ve got a hotel tonight. You really won’t die for lack of wifi you know.
