Day 10-It’s All Greek To Me

Thursday

We got up quite early and first thing we walked through the twisty turny winding alleys to Grotta beach on the opposite side of the chora. On the way there, we visited the beautiful cathedral in Kath’s photo quiz thingy!

Me in front of the cathedral – found it at last!

When we got to the beach, lots of plastic. So I picked it up but mum told me to stop because apparently people do drugs on the beach.

Then we had lunch at Kozi a beautiful view of the rocky beach and the Portara in the background, like scenery!

Me sprinkling cheese on my spag bol
Windy, rough seas on Grotta beach, calm seas on other bay

So we walked to the Portara, also known as Apollo’s temple. (The remaining door)

Me mum and Dad selfie in front of portara

After the Portara me and dad got some presents for Oliver, Thomas, Harry, Caitlyn and G N’ G. After we went to a bar and then my fav shop and found out about sour cherry loux!! Then we chilled on the balcony for a bit.

Me and my milkshake

And then gyros for dinner, followed by ‘Shot in the Dark!’ and ‘Harry Potter’ to go to sleep. 😴 💤

I’m Alice. I started writing about my holidays when I was 6. I’m 11 now. I love art, photography and travelling. So far, I have been to many parts of Italy (by plane and car) many Greek Islands, Morocco and Thailand. Last summer, we drove to Slovenia and Croatia and camped. Next year I hope to visit Japan and go skiing.

  1. Hello Alice
Thank you for yet another ‘newsy’ and informative blog. We look up the meanings of the Greek words you use. eg portara = big door and chora = (a)town or ‘the area around (a) town.
It is so good that you are getting to see everyday life on the islands that you are visiting.
The pics are great, as well.
    Lots of love
